Dosage and method of use

Children over 10 years and adults: 1-2 tablets, 3 times daily. The total daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets.

It should not be taken for more than 3 days without a prescription. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

Tablets should be swallowed whole with adequate liquid.

Oral administration

Do not take if lactating or pregnant. Consult your doctor / physician.

Hyoscine N-Butylbromide
For almost 70 years, nature has been the point of origin for hyoscine n-butylbromide, the active ingredient in Buscopan® Plus. This substance is gotten from the chemical processing of a plant called Duboisia, the best seeds of which are carefully grown in greenhouses. Since then, hyoscine n-butylbromide has been considered one of the most reliable treatments for relieving belly cramps.

Paracetamol
Buscopan® Plus contains paracetamol, an analgesic that acts on the stomach, stopping the production of prostaglandins, which are substances that the body produces and that cause pain.

Frequently asked questions

  • Buscopan® Plus helps relieve belly pain caused by stronger abdominal cramps including menstrual cramps and urinary tract spasm. Thanks to the active component that directly targets the source of pain, relaxing your belly muscles and reducing cramps as well as the paracetamol that delivers relief from pain.

  • It is recommended to take it with plenty of liquid. The tablets should not be chewed.

  • The recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets 3 to 5 times a day. You should not take more than 10 tablets a day. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

  • Children over 10 years old and adults. It is recommended not to take during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

  • Buscapan® starts working within 15 minutes* of taking it and its effects can last between 6 and 8 hours.

  • Buscopan® Plus should not be taken on a continuous daily basis for extended periods without investigating the cause of abdominal pain.  Consult your doctor if the pain is severe or does not improve for more than 3 days. Use exactly as directed on the leaflet, or as prescribed by your doctor.

  • It should be stored in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 30ºC. Keep out of reach of children.

  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, myasthenia gravis and megacolon, as well as mechanical obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract or paralytic or obstructed ileus. In rare cases of hereditary diseases (e.g. fructose intolerance) that are incompatible with the components of the formula, this product is contraindicated.

    It should be used with caution in glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, hepatic dysfunction(e.g. Due to chronic alcohol abuse, hepatitis), impaired renal function, and hepatocellular insufficiency (Child-Pugh A/B).

  • Some of the undesirable effects of Buscopan® Plus tablets are due to its anticholinergic properties. Rarely, they may occur briefly and reversibly. anaphylactic reactions with episodes of shortness of breath and anaphylactic shock, rash, red welts, red or itchy skin, tachycardia, dry mouth, decreased sweating, and urine retention.
