WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF HYOSCINE-N- BUTYLBROMIDE (Buscopan®)?

The side effects of Hyoscine-N-butylbromide (Buscopan®) are generally mild and goes away by itself.

Uncommon: Skin reactions (eg. rash, redness, itchiness), abnormal sweating, dry mouth

Rare: Fast heart rate, urinary retention

For suspected adverse drug reactions, report to www.fda.gov.ph and CHCPV@sanofi.com. Patients should seek medical attention immediately at the first sign of any adverse drug reaction.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU MISS A DOSE?

If you take too few Hyoscine-N-butylbromide (Buscopan®) or forget to take a dose of Hyoscine-N-butylbromide (Buscopan®) Tablet 10 mg, do not take a double dose next time, but continue taking the medicine as prescribed by your doctor or as described in the package leaflet.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE TAKEN MORE THAN THE RECOMMENDED DOSAGE?

Consult your doctor if you have taken more than the recommended dose.

WHAT CAN BE DONE IF AN OVERDOSE OF HYOSCINE-N- BUTYLBROMIDE (BUSCOPAN®) IS TAKEN?

Signs and symptoms of overdosage may include:

  • worsening of abdominal pain
  • vomiting
  • lack of appetite
  • worsening of eye pain in patients with glaucoma

Seek immediate medical attention when any of these is observed.
