Dosage and method of use

For ages 6+ and adults, 1-2 tablets 3-5 times daily. In no case should you take more than 10 tablets a day. Tablets should be swallowed whole with adequate liquid. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

Hyoscine N-Butylbromide 
For almost 70 years, nature has been the point of origin for hyoscine n-butylbromide, the active ingredient in Buscopan®. This substance is obtained from the chemical processing of a plant called Duboisia, whose best seeds are carefully grown in greenhouses. Since then, hyoscine n-butylbromide has been considered one of the most reliable treatments for relieving stomach cramps.

Once you take Buscopan®, its active component, hyoscine n-butylbromide, directly targets the muscles of your stomach with an antispasmodic effect, relaxing contractions and relieving cramps that cause you pain. Frequently asked questions

  • Buscopan® helps relieve stomach pain caused by cramps, thanks to the active component that directly targets the source of pain, relaxing your stomach muscles and reducing cramps.

  • Unless otherwise prescribed by your physician, the following doses are recommended: Adults and children over 6 years: 1-2 sugar-coated tablets 3-5 times daily. The tablets should be swallowed whole with adequate amounts of fluid. The tablets should not be chewed. Buscopan® should not be taken on a continuous daily basis for extended periods without investigating the cause of abdominal pain.

  • The recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets 3 to 5 times a day. You should not take more than 10 tablets a day. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

  • Children over 6 years old and adults. It is not recommended to take Buscopan® during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

  • It is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before taking any medicine, consult with your doctor.

  • Buscapan® starts working within 15 minutes* of taking it and its effects can last between 6 and 8 hours.

  • If your symptoms last for 3 days or more, please contact your doctor. Use exactly as directed on the leaflet, or as prescribed by your doctor

  • It should be stored in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 30ºC. Keep out of reach of children.

  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, myasthenia gravis and megacolon, as well as mechanical obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract or paralytic or obstructive ileus. In rare cases of hereditary diseases that are incompatible with the components of the formula (e.g. fructose intolerance), this product is contraindicated. Because of risk of anticholinergic complications, caution should be used in patients prone to narrow angle glaucoma, as well as in patients susceptible to intestinal or urinary outlet obstructions and in those inclined to tachyarrhythmia.  Consult your doctor if the pain is severe or does not improve within 48 hours of taking Buscopan®.

  • Some of the undesirable effects of Buscopan® tablets are due to its anticholinergic properties. Rarely, they may occur briefly and reversibly. anaphylactic reactions with episodes of shortness of breath and anaphylactic shock, rash, red welts, red or itchy skin, tachycardia, dry mouth, decreased sweating, and urine retention.
